Small Project 16 Complete, Small Project 17 Launches, and Mike Epler's Matching Challenge for Bacilio!

Dear Aura's House Friends and Donors,

Make Your Donation Count Three Times
We've raised $1605 so far for Bacilio and his family of Honduras as of November 7, 2007. Thanks to our partner, Mike Epler and his Matching Challenge, now every $1 you donate will yield 2 more dollars, up to $1500!

Bacilio currently lives in a flimsy two-room shack made of mud, wooden planks, and garbage bags. This family of eight constantly faces the threat of health problems and injury due to exposure and crowded living conditions. Soon the family will face the upcoming rainy season of Honduras which starts in November and lasts until April. If you think you can spare a small amount, even $1, please consider helping this family who will never be able to repay you. Please donate now or help by spreading the word to your family and friends.

Lift One

In 2005 Children International launched an online fundraising tool inspired by Aura's House called SponsorThon. Since then, it has now grown and evolved into the Lift One Project.

Just $22 a month will help a child get basic medical and dental care, schooling, clothing, and more.

Featured Donors: Russ and Trisha Kometer

Russ and Trisha write:

"In July 2007, we had the opportunity to witness first hand the impact an Aura’s House contribution can have on a developing community. As volunteers at Ghana’s Cape Coast School for the Deaf, we met children who are learning to raise crops and animals thanks to the hard work of students from The American University of Rome and to generous contributions from Aura’s House sponsors.

The vocational skills these children are acquiring will provide them hope in finding a self-sufficient place in a society that has historically provided few prospects for the deaf.

Russ and Trisha Kometer with Students

We have since returned to the US, but are still in communication with students at Cape Deaf who are eager to graduate, with plans of pursuing careers in agriculture.  The fact that so many caring people chose to invest in the futures of these children is astonishing.  We are humbled by the vision and dedication of Kristen and her partners, and we look forward to spreading the word about Aura’s House."
