country is the world. My religion is to do good."

Key poverty-related issues:
-
In Calcutta, the poor live in extremely overcrowded slums where shelters are made of wood, cardboard or metal scraps. In rural villages, homes are constructed out of mud, with no running water, sewer systems or electricity.
-
Respiratory tract infections, malnutrition, parasitic infections and anemia represent common health threats.
-
Many children do not receive an education because they must work to help support their families. For children enrolled in primary school, only 62 percent reach the fifth grade. Overall, only 52 percent of the population is literate.
