Key poverty-related issues:
-
Respiratory
tract infections, parasitic infections, malnutrition
and acute diarrhea represent common health threats.
-
There
is a severe shortage of schools, especially in rural
areas. Many poor families cannot afford necessary
supplies, uniforms or fees. Only 25 percent of children
are enrolled in secondary school. Only 56 percent
of adults are literate.
