Lift One

In 2005 Children International launched an online fundraising tool inspired by Aura's House called SponsorThon. Since then, it has now grown and evolved into the Lift One Project.

Just $22 a month will help a child get basic medical and dental care, schooling, clothing, and more.

What's Next :

We're continuing to raise money for a Community Well for Aura's neighbors who currently get their water from a dirty river. We estimate it will cost between $600 and $1000 but are still waiting for the final cost from Children International. So far we have raised $695 for a well as of March 4, 2005. There's a chance the money may go to Aura's school instead. Stay tuned!

We will be raising money for another needy family's home in early Spring 2005. Children International sponsor, Anastasia Yecke of Miami, Florida will spearhead the fundraising and promotional effort, while we (Kristen Palana and the WPUNJ community) will do the web and graphic design. Looking forward to it!

Please contact Kristen if you have any comments, questions, or suggestions.

Hi Everyone.

In web design, the words "under construction" are usually a bad thing to have plastered across your website. At Aura's House.com, it's a dream come true!

As you will see in the pictures posted here, building has indeed begun on the Hernandez Family's new home. Hopefully by May or June, weather permitting, the family will soon be able to move in. Details on the house's progress from Vickie Weidenmann of Children International.

Still no word on the cost of that water well for Aura's neighbors! We're waiting for a quote from the field office in Guatemala. Children International will use the $695 raised for either a well, or educational supplies for Aura's school. The goal is to put this money towards something that will benefit Aura's community. We'll keep you posted, and sorry for the wait on that news.

We are also getting ready to launch a new fundraising project for another needy family. This time Children International will pick a family most in need of a housing miracle. We should know who our next family is in about 2 weeks. Details so far.

Best wishes for the upcoming Spring. Thanks as always, and enjoy the photos.

Cheers,
Kristen Palana
