I hope you are doing well! I wanted to let you know about a project that means a lot to me called Aura’s House. This online project http://www.aurashouse.com, was started in 2004 by Kristen Palana, a Professor of Art in New Jersey (now teaching at the American University of Rome in Italy). In 2004 she and her students raised $5000 to build and furnish a house for her sponsored child, Aura Hernandez, in Guatemala, and another $700 for the village school. In 2005 she and volunteer, Anastasia Yecke of Miami, Fl. raised $6050 to build and furnish a home for the 10 members of the Rojas family in Honduras. Aura’s House works directly with top-rated US charity Children International and most recently the 501(c)(3) organization, Kenya Kids in Need. Donations are 100% US tax-deductible.

Aura's House was started by one person in 2004. To date it has raised nearly $30,000 to build and furnish homes for needy families in Guatemala and Honduras, build a well for a village in India, help send children from Zambia to school, and build a classroom for children in the Philippines.
