We aim to buy desperately needed beds for impoverished families in Guatemala. Our goal is to raise $4200. Each bed costs $105 and our goal is to provide beds (mattresses included) to the 40 neediest families identified by Children International's Guatemala City Agency. All donations are 100% US Tax Deductible.

As Amelia's siblings grow bigger, soon they will no longer be
able to fit on their parents' bed and will have to move to mats
on the floor. Many families in Guatemala face similar problems.

Amelia (14) on the mat
where she sleeps.

Amelia's family has only one bed, which
is shared by her parents and her two siblings, Leticia
and Javier. Amelia has grown enough that she no longer
fits on the bed, so she sleeps in the same room on a mat
stretched out on the floor in the only available space
– which is right by the door. Two other siblings
sleep in their grandparents' room which is built on the
same piece of land as Amelia's house.

Vickie Weidenmann from Children International writes, "Among our sponsored children in Guatemala City, there are over 4,000 families that have four or more family members but that have only one or two beds per household.
Our Guatemala City Agency would like to begin to alleviate this problem by providing single beds with mattresses (1 bed per family) for at least 40 of those families with the greatest need."
Summary
Cost per bed: $105
Project total: $4,200 ($105 x 40 families)
If you would like to contribute to this worthy cause, please make a small gift. Every bit helps, even $1.
