Aura's
Virtual House has been built. Now on to building the real thing...
|

Aura can soon stop lugging buckets of water from a dirty river and
have more time to concentrate on school.

Hi Everybody,
We
did it, thanks to all our donors!
November was our most successful month of all! Nearly $1500 was
raised to bring us to our goal of $4500 and an extra $110 (so far)
that will be used to buy desperately needed furniture and supplies for
the Hernandez Family.
What this
means for Aura and her family is that they will be moving into a brand
new home made of sturdy bricks, with a proper roof in just three or four
months! The new home will have two bedrooms, a living room, an actual
kitchen, and an indoor bathroom with running water.
Construction on the house will begin within days and I will be keeping
you posted on the website with pictures of the progress, pictures of the
family when they learn the surprisingly good news, and any other updates
I can give you as I get them. Read
some recent emails from Children International to see their plans
for notifying the family and building the house.
I am very grateful for all the help and support people have given on this
project. It's not over yet! Please stay tuned for updates on the site
and for the next newsletter in mid January. Thanks
for everything and Happy Holidays!
Best wishes,
Kristen Palana

BY MICHELE HOWE Star-Ledger Staff
When Kristen Palana isn't teaching classes in electronic publishing,
Web design and animation, the William Paterson University professor
spends her time raising money to build a home for a Guatemalan child
and her family.
"I started looking for a volunteer project a couple of years ago
-- especially ones benefiting children, and finally came across Children
International, so I contacted them," said Palana, 28, of Englewood.
